Test Results & Follow-Up
You can go to Pathology Tests Explained (here) for easy-to-understand information about common test results and medical terms.
**PLEASE NOTE** Some results may be flagged as “outside the normal range” without being medically concerning. For example, a person who is 7 feet tall is outside the “normal” height range, but they are not abnormal. Your doctor will interpret your results in the context of your overall health.
The Results Process at EBMC
1. Urgent Results
If your results are urgent, we will contact by phone or SMS as soon as possible.
2. Results Requiring Non-Urgent Follow-Up
If your results require discussion or follow-up within the next 2-4 weeks, you will receive an SMS asking you to make an appointment. You will remain on our recall list until the results have been discussed. If you already have an appointment booked, please ensure it falls within the recommended timeframe.
3. Results With No Follow-Up Needed
If your results have been reviewed and no follow-up is required, you may receive an SMS advising this (depending on your doctor).
4. When to Make an Appointment
Please make an appointment if:
- your symptoms are ongoing or worsening
- you are concerned about your results
- you have not received advice from us and/or your results are not appearing on your My Health Record
**PLEASE NOTE** Practice Nurses are no longer able to give results out over the phone.
