After Hours

AMBULANCE SERVICE

The Ambulance Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for any emergency.

Call 000 and you will be asked to provide information about the condition of the patient - this helps to assess the urgency of the situation. You will also be required to provide specific information about your location including the nearest corner intersection.


ALTERNATIVE SERVICES

From August 2023, we will no longer be open on Sundays. You will still be able to call for an appointment on Saturday morning.

 

If you are unwell and require assistance on a Sunday, you can contact the National Home Doctor Service (137 425), or can access the following:

AFTER HOURS ACCESS TO A DOCTOR

All after hours cover is provided by the National Home Doctor Service. Call 137425 to arrange a home visit if required.

Patients who hold a Medicare card will be bulk billed.

Your doctor will receive information relating to a visit by the National home doctor service.


BABIES AND CHILDREN

Problems concerning babies and children should be directed to the on-call doctor (call 9388 0990 for details), or the Royal Children's Hospital Emergency department (9345 5522).


 


OTHER OPTIONS 

Additional after hours services for severe problems are available through the following:

·         Private Hospital Emergency Departments at the Epworth Richmond Hospital (9426 6303), John Fawkner Hospital (9385 2266),  These hospitals will charge a service fee.

·         Public Hospital Emergency Departments at St Vincent's Hospital (9288 4356), Royal Melbourne Hospital (9342 7000), Royal Women's Hospital (emergency 8345 3600) and Mercy Hospital for Women( emergency 8458 4000) - no appointment required. These hospitals do not charge a service fee.
